What is the Allan Gray Fellowship Programme?
The Allan Gray Fellowship Programme is designed for ambitious young South Africans who are about to start university. It focuses on students who not only want to succeed personally, but also aim to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.

Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the Allan Gray Fellowship, you must meet the following requirements:
- Achieve at least 60 percent in Pure Mathematics or 80 percent in Mathematical Literacy in your final Grade 11 results
- Maintain a minimum overall average of 70 percent in Grade 11 results excluding Life Orientation
- Be currently in Grade 12 during the year of application
- Be younger than 21 years old
- Be a South African citizen
- Plan to study towards a degree in fields such as Commerce, Science, Engineering, Law, Humanities, Arts, or Health Science
Note that Medicine, Veterinary Science, and Dentistry are not included.
You must also intend to study at one of the approved universities, including Wits, UJ, UCT, NMU, Rhodes University, UWC, Stellenbosch University, University of Pretoria, UFS, UKZN, or TSiBA.
Application Process and Timeline
Applying is simple but requires careful attention and preparation.
- Submit your application online or by post before 30 April 2026 at 17:00
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews in July 2026
- Successful interview candidates will attend a selection camp in September 2026
It is recommended that you spend at least two full days completing your application to ensure quality and accuracy.
